Top 10 Photoshop Shortcuts

By Shaun Pearce

Most people use Photoshop with just a mouse or pen and tablet tool;
however, there are plenty of handy keyboard shortcuts that can save you
time and frustration. Here are my top 10:

1. Use Shift+Tab to hide all the palettes except the toolbox.

2. Hitting the 'D' key resets your colour palettes to Black foreground,
White Background

3. The 'X' key will toggle your foreground and background colours.

4. Use Cmd/Ctrl+Delete to fill your layer or selection with the current
background colour.

5. Option/Alt+Delete fills your layer or selection with the foreground
colour.

6. Change your paintbrush circle into a cross hair for precise control
by pressing the Caps Lock key.

7. To quickly change the blend mode of a layer use Shift+Opt/Alt+(letter
corresponding to mode) ie: Shift+Opt/Alt+M is Multiply. Shift+Opt/Alt+V
is Vivid Light.

8. Using Shift + the '+' or '-' will toggle through the various blend
modes one at a time.

9. To switch quickly between Foreground and Background colours, press
the 'x' key.

10. To quickly fill a selection with the Foreground or Background
colour, press the Alt/Opt+backspace keys to fill the selection with the
Foreground colour. Press Cmd/Ctrl+backspace key to fill it with the
background colour.
